{making art with printables what a trip!} traveling memories zine by Cathy Frailey

Hello again, everyone! I've got a super-fun zine project today using the What A Trip Printable Paper Pack!

Zine's are simply folded pieces of paper that look like little booklets - or maga'zines'.  I've found the easiest way to do it is by using Photoshop. I just open a blank file the size of a sheet of printer paper.  Then I choose which papers from the pack I want to use and drop them into the template! Be sure the top row is facing the other direction so that the pictures aren't upside down when you fold it!

Once it's printed out and any white margin around it trimmed off, you'll fold along all your lines so that you have 8 squares.

Then you'll fold it in half and cut in the middle to the first line.

Stand the paper up long-ways and bring the ends towards the middle. Now fold it into a book.

As you can see below, there will be open areas. I use a tape runner to tack those areas down so it looks more finished. If you have any over hang on any edges, you can snip those off.

After that, just embellish!

I used some of the ephemera from the pack along with other goodies that I had on hand. The background pages are the perfect backdrop for this zine - every page tells a story. And what I'm really struck by with these papers is that you can see texture, like they're fabric!

Stop by Studio Julia Cotrim and pick up a pack or two!
And I hope you'll visit my blog, too!
